Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Fundamentals

What Will You Learn?

  • In this course, you will learn numerous 802.11 coverage considerations. Troubleshooting for coverage, capacity and performance problems can quite often be avoided with proper network design and comprehensive site surveys. You will learn many causes of layer 2 retransmissions and negative effects on the WLAN because of retries. Because wireless should always be considered an ever-changing environment, problems such as roaming, hidden nodes, and interference are bound to surface.
  • Tools such as protocol analyser and spectrum analysers are invaluable when troubleshooting both layer 2 and layer 1 problems. You will learn performance variables that can affect both range and throughput. You will learn the challenges that are unique to both voice and data WLAN deployments. Finally, you will learn about the weather conditions that can impact the outdoor RF communications.
  • I have added a Bonus Chapter with 4 videos from my 11.5 years of wi-fi experience, where I have shared some Tips, Tricks, Misconceptions about Wireless Troubleshooting. I have also discussed a couple of most common Wi-Fi Network scenario like "Client Slowness" and "Roaming issues" and how to approach the troubleshooting if you ever run into these issues in real life.
